Scaling product delivery through a governed design system.
Enabling multiple teams to ship consistent, high-quality interfaces faster by unifying components, tokens, and governance into a single scalable system, improving workflows, decision-making, development speed, and UI quality.
Sole designer responsible for auditing the existing platform, defining the token architecture, designing all core components, and collaborating with front-end engineers on implementation and governance.
01./// Project Overview
Context
When I joined the company, my first project was to initiate the development of the company's Design System, which at that time struggled with quality and consistency.
Working closely with the front-end team, we rebuilt key components to be consistent, scalable, and designed to handle all usage scenarios. Consistency, accessibility, and intelligent control of variables guided the process.

How success is measured
Quantitative metrics
Communication with developers
Ensure design decisions are clear enough to not require back-and-forth resolution
In numbersless than 2 clarification rounds per component delivered
Component evolution
Track how often components are evolved or receive new variations, the goal is evolution, not problem-solving
In numbersat least 1 planned evolution per component per quarter
Handoff time
Measure the average time between design delivery and development start, a mature DS reduces this time
In numbershandoff to dev start under 2 days
Environment metrics
Component consistency
Ensure all components follow the same visual and behavioral standards across the product
In numbersno inconsistencies flagged in design sprints
Variable naming consistency
Ensure all tokens and variables follow a unified naming convention across design and code
In numbersno naming mismatches between design file and codebase
Deviation rate
No custom components created outside the DS, high deviation means the DS is not covering real use cases
In numbersno custom components outside the DS per sprint
Documentation
All components documented with usage, variations and rules, the dev reads it and understands immediately, no questions needed
In numbersno undocumented active components
Versioning
DS updates must not break existing components, measures system maturity and stability
In numbersno breaking changes per release
